Happy New Year Everyone!!

It has been a WHILE!!!! My old age has been keeping me out of writing something in here. I could not remember the password anymore..lol

Well anyway, since I will not start getting my masters until February, I think I will have time to write some random thoughts every once in a while in here.

I didn't know this blog is still working. As far as I can remember, I have deactivated this account.Oh well..since its still working, I might as well write..

Let's see...it has been over a year since my last post. There are so many things that happened in the past year. My nephew has turned 1 year old already. Time flies so fast. Robert graduated from Kindergarten already and this coming school year, he will be in first grade. Ha ha ha..I am getting old.. I have a first grader already..

What else? ohh I am back to school after stopping for two semesters. I went back in January and now I am taking summer classes. I was supposed to finish the course in Fall this year, but now its not going to happen till Spring of next year.

I am going to think what I have missed...Im sure there are more..lol

Hello there Fellow Bloggers,

It has been a while since my last post here. I have been so busy with work and school. With all the crazy happenings in the market, my work has been crazy as well since I am working for a financial institution. With that said, I apologize to all who has visited my page and has not seen any new post.

Let's see, my last post here was in June. OMG!! There have been so many things that happened in the last few months.

Let's begin with me having a new nephew.Yes!!! I am a new aunt to a cute bouncing baby boy. He is Landon Eli Davis. Whatta cutie!!!

I was at the hospital when my sister was in labor I heard her scream while she was in pain. She squeezed my hands tightly and you should see her face. I was laughing while seeing her making faces.(LOL) I am so mean, right?!!! Well, she had to tell me to shut up, of course..LOL But she didn't have a choice. lol

I wasn't in the room when she had the baby. I don't know if I can take watching it though. So I had to wait in the lobby but even at the lobby, I heard my sister scream so loud..LOL

June 16th was Robert's graduation. I am so proud of my son!!! He looks so cute on his blue gown. He graduated from PreK and this coming school year, he will begin kindergarten.I am just so proud of him. I could not explain my feelings on that day! They sang few songs and you can hear his voice so loud from the rest of the class.hahaha..

It's been a while

since I have not posted a thing on this blog. I am guilty of that! I have been caught up with a lot of things. And it has really been a while since I have turned my laptop on. I got so busy with school, but now I have two weeks off from it (thank heavens!) hehe.

Work has been very busy too despite the market situation. Thank goodness, we are still writing a lot of business, and I am not complaining at all!! hehe

And since I am off from school for two weeks, I have devoted myself to working harder and giving myself a rest. I can lay down on my bed after work and watch tv all night long!! And on weekends, I go out with my classmates, we go to the city and enjoy the sun all day!!

My son has been asking me to get this for months now. I took him shopping for clothes one day and he saw this kid sitting in the corner with his Nintendo DS. My son sat with this kid and I was watching him trying to watch the kid. When we left the store, my son said, "mommy, that is what I was asking you to get me". He seems to really like the DS. So I told him, when you are good, I will buy you that.

The next day, he woke me up and said, "mommy, it's time to buy the DS". lol

That same day, we went to Best Buy and while going in the store, he couldn't help but tell everyone he met that his mommy is buying him a DS. Woahhhh...I guess there is no backing out for mommy.lol

So I got him that and two games to go with. He is very very happy. I would do anything for my son as long as I can and can afford it.LOL

Rye Playland

I took my son and my sister's daughter to Rye playland last Memorial Day. The weather was beautiful. But of course, since it was a long weekend, the traffic just to get in the park was ridiculous. The kids were so impatient with there, "are we there yet?" question.

But when we were approaching the park, they were so excited. Especially when they saw the rides and they were talking to each other and were already planning what ride to go first.Robert got on the pirate ride first. Gia could not go since she was too tall for the height required for that ride. So we just stood outside and waited for Robert to finish. Then they both got on the Motorcycle ride. Of course the two wants each of their own.lol

They had fun with that ride.Then Gia got on the Himalayan's ride. Robert could not go since he was too little. He could have joined Gia on that ride if accompanied by an adult but since I do not want to go, so we just stayed outside and waited for Gia.

They had a great time!!!!!!

It's been a while..

Since my last post. It has been really crazy here and there. I got really busy at work and school.Juggling three things and sometimes more at a time makes me really go nuts. But as they say, a true filipina knows how to multi-task..LOL

Anyway, this is the first time I am really enjoying my weekends off. Especially now that the weather in New York is very nice, I get to take my son to the park, enjoying the beach with the family and most of all, enjoying the heat of the sun..LOVE IT!!!!

I'd like to share with you these pics taken during a weekend spent on the beach. We had fun. Although I never got on the water, it sure was fun just looking at the kids playing.

Overlapping Subjects???

I registered for summer classes early April. Today, I browsed through my summer schedule and I realized that I registered for two subjects on the same day, at the same time. How did that happen?lol

Obviously the Advisement did a mistake. Either they changed the day of one subject without giving notices to the students. I was pretty upset of course. I dont want to go through that problem again. I already had a problem with my vaccination record last term. It seems like every term, different problems.

Well, I emailed the Deans of Advisement and gave them the schedule I wanted. I will look forward to receive a reply from them. If I wont get a response by tomorrow afternoon, I will stop by advisement and settle it there.

International Management

Tonight was my presentation for an Integrative Case in my International Management Class. It was not so bad since the cases were assigned to us since we started the term. I read through the case and tried to analyze it. I have other people helped me read it and asked them to share what they think about the case.

The case was about Human Resource Management in an international environment. Of course, dealing with mixed managers, Human Resource Management is critical and vitally important. As future managers of an international organization we must have the ability to deal with different people of different cultures.

This class is really pretty interesting.My management class last term was very intense too. I learned a lot from this class. Although I hate the quizzes every week, it sure is very challenging.

Well, I can't wait for my grade for this presentation to be posted on blackboard.

Weekend's Fun Fun Fun

I had fun this weekend. My sister's family invited us to go on a picnic with them. We went to a nearby park, GLEN ISLAND. The weather was perfect. The sun was shining although being near the water is a bit windy.

Of course the camera is with me wherever I go. So my sister and I made that day as a photoshot day.LOLWhen the wind started to blow pretty hard, we went to Palisades Mall and watched "Iron Man". I really liked the movie and the kids loved it too. But I suggest that they should do a sequel on it.LOL.

It was a pretty fun weekend for us. It is always great to spend time with the family.

I had fun today with the kids. We let the kids play at Krazy City when we got in the mall. After forty minutes, we went to see SPEED RACER which the two of them love. Its a good movie. Moms out there should go and bring their kids. Im sure they will love it. After the movies, the kids went back to Krazy City playing some more games. I had a very fun weekend!!!

On Mother’s Day, many people feel pressured to do the greeting card/Sunday brunch/bouquet of flowers thing. That is perfectly valid. It satisfies a need to prove you have a good relationship with your mother.

Of course, relationships with one’s mother are complicated and can’t be watered down to good or bad or roses or daisies. Pretty much all mother-child relationships have some conflict built into them, some more than others.

Today, however, I will address dealing with Mother’s Day when your mother is deceased.
Obviously, any day that holds memories — such as a birthday, holiday or anniversary — can be be painful, and can remain painful for years.
On Mother’s Day, everyone else is focused on their mothers. So the feeling of missing your mother — and feeling like you are the only one in the world without a mother — can intensify these feelings of loss. This holds whether or not you had a good relationship with your mother when she was alive.
Though Mother’s Day is a "Hallmark holiday," it still is powerful. No matter how old you are, losing a parent is a regressive experience that makes people feel young, childlike and vulnerable.
So it’s OK to understand that Mother’s Day isn’t always happy. Acknowledge that you are sad and miss your mother. There’s no need to pretend it is not a melancholy time for you. Nearly everyone whose mother is absent feels bereft.
Even as you acknowledge that nothing and nobody can replace your mother, if you are a mother yourself, focus on the joy of having your own children. Celebrating your own motherhood will provide solace.

Finally, if you are estranged from your mother, Mother’s Day provides a good excuse for trying to repair the relationship. In some cases, a relationship is so toxic or abusive it is better ended. But there are many more times when that is not the case.

If, for whatever reason, there has been an evolution into a distance, or else a long-past insult that nobody really cares about anymore, Mother’s Day can allow you to mend that rift.

If you do decide to use Mother's Day as an opportunity to heal your relationship, remember that it's not a time to accuse or bring up old wounds. And don't be afraid to acknowledge that you miss having more of a relationship with her.

There is benefit from telling your mother you have been thinking of her and would like to achieve more closeness. The fact it is Mother’s Day will likely soften her up, as well. The time is ripe to make amends. So spend some time together, talk by phone, or send a letter or note. It is wonderful to enjoy your mother while she is still around.

Now I can relax

After a stressful week, I can finally relax. Tonight was the last midterm exam!!! It was not too bad. Some of the questions were taken from our quizzes. Whew!! I was really stressed out! I am just glad it is over.

Tomorrow I will not be in the office. I will be in training all day. I will let ya know tomorrow how it goes. As far as weekend schedule, nothing special is in place yet. I dont think I will be doing something for mother's day. I will probably be doing my laundry since I normally do mine on Sundays.

I will probably be doing my presentation for my international management class since it will be in two weeks. I have borrowed some Management books from the library today. I will do some reading then to prepare for my presentation. I have to do a layout on powerpoint also.

Well, atleast now, I am glad the midterm is over.

I am going to hit the bed now. Take care everyone.

Today, I got a call from my boss. Barely awake, I answered the phone anyway. He asked me if I could do the weekly report and submit it to our Regional Sales Manager and I was like YES, I will do it..Arghhh..Do you do the same? I would do anything for my job. That is how much I love and enjoy my work. I miss it when I am not there. I was off since yesterday and I miss being there already. I cannot wait to get back to work.So today after my boss called, I tried to log in to our system using the token the company gave me to access the system from home but for some reason the token was not working. So I rushed myself to work and they were all surprised to see me there on my day off. My manager of the branch asked me why I am there instead of enjoying my day off and I told him what I had to do. He told me, You are your boss' blessing! And I just smiled.

For five years, work has been my "SANCTUARY". I know, I know it sounds crazy and you are probably thinking, what the hell is wrong with her. But believe me, at work, I can be myself and excel at what I do. I can talk to people, I can answer the phone, I can shake people's hand without thinking someone will get upset. At work, I can laugh with friends. ohhh what a life!.lol

I love what I do and I love the place I am in. I have plenty of opportunities to leave for better salary but I did not.But I love HSBC. I fall inlove with the bank and the company. And with every opportunities the company has presented to me, I never fail to thank them.

Tonight's Midterm Exam

When my professor got into the room tonight, he told us that he had to edit the test questions for three times. He also told us that he took the test himself and it took him five times to get it perfect. So we were all like,"what the ?"!!! Some of my classmates were studying and flipping thru their notes to take as much information in before taking the exam.

I was worried as well. Wonder how am I gonna do. If professor himself had to take it five times to get it all right, how much more I?

When he distributed the test questions, I went throught it pretty quick. After fifteen minutes, I was done and so are some of my classmates. When I handed in my paper, Professor told me, I got all of you tonight! And I said, yes!! you got us bigtime.lol

It was pretty easy because the questions were all covered in his class discussions.

Well, so long everyone. I got another exam tomorrow.One more and I am done!!

I took this picture when we went to Manhattan a couple of weeks ago. A beauty huh?!?! It's been getting warmer here in New York. There are days that it feels like summer already. But oh gawd, the problem of the many!! Allergies are kicking in and I am always a victim. I have been dealing with my allergies for two weeks now and it is driving me crazy. I think I have used up 3 boxes of tissues at work already..LOL

And here is the beauty and the pride of all New Yorkers. Standing tall, the Empire State Building! It is even more beautiful at night.

Midterm Next Week

This term is getting so close to its end. Next week is our midterm already. I have not started studying but I have made my outlines for all my subjects so it will be easier for me to study. So far, everything has been great in school. This term is so different than the first one. I have quizzes every week in my subjects this term. Its driving me nuts!!

Fun at the Park

Friday afternoon: This is after we get off work. We took the kids to a nearby park. They rode their bikes and my sister and I had time to talk about her pregnancy. We were on the swing for a while too. After that we went out to eat at TGIF.

Tomorrow will be another day. I dont know yet what I will be doing. Maybe I will prepare for my midterm exam since it is going to be just two weeks away. I also have another presentation for my International Management class that I have to prepare the powerpoint on. I might work on that too. My girlfriends and I are planning on going to the movies after their work tomorrow but I don't know. Maybe we might have to push that on Sunday after church.

Getting ready for Summer

Two weeks ago after work, my sister dropped by the office. We then decided to get our hair done, put some highlights on. I had fun bonding with my sister. Look at her, she looks soooo tired waiting for the lady to finish putting the color on..LOL..Told her she should cut her hair so it would take shorter time but she does not listen..LOL
And here I am trying to take the heat from the dryer..LOL..Arghhhhh I was ready to fall asleep..LOL..But it was all worth it.

Adventure in the City

Last friday as I have mentioned in my prior post, we took a ride to the Manhattan to renew my sister's passport. The weather was perfect that time. It wasn't too cold and it wasn't too hot either. While driving downtown, I took some pics and I would like to share them with you.

When you go down Fifth Avenue, it would appear to you as if you are in United Nations. This is where most of the consulate offices of different countries are located.

I feel kinda guilty that I have not updated this blog since last week. It has been a crazy week for me although I got some days off from work. I took some days off since I got four days carried over from last year. I had to take it before March ends but it has been too busy due to tax season, so I didn't take a leave till after april 15th. My son has been off from school too since Thursday till today. He will be back to school tomorrow and I will be back to reality also:)

Anyway, I did not accomplish anything for myself this weekend. I have helped my sister set up the baby's room since she is seven months pregnant. We went shopping for the baby. I handed her over my son's crib which can also turn into a day bed. I bought my son a new bed (Lightning McQueen of course).

Today, I went with my sister to the Philippine Consulate in Fifth Avenue to renew her passport. Gawd!! It feels like I was in the Philippines..LOL

New York has been having a great weather since last week. We hit 90's last week and everyone seemed to enjoy it. You should see my co-workers and I at lunch. We went out the bank and was just enjoying the sunshine outside..LOL

I am in school right now but since I got here pretty early, I stopped by the computer lab to check on my emails. I am pretty exhausted today. So much things to do at work. Thank goodness the tax season is over, that is a big relief for us!!! No more customers waiting in line to make contributions to their IRA.

We did a great sale today!!! About 20,000 in revenue to the branch. Thanks to my partners in business. Guess we are going to get a good payout. April seems to be a very busy month for us.

Anyway, I am just checking in. I will catch up with you all later.

Meet Samantha Julianne

Ladies and gentlemen, meet Samantha Julianne! The daughter of my Filipino friends here, Patrick and Mavie. My bestfriend Rochel and I gave her name. Mavie was at the hospital having labor when we were asking her what's gonna be the baby's name. She has a couple of names chosen but we brainstormed and Rochel wanted Samantha and since she was born in July, I gave her suggested Julianne. So we put the two together and got Samantha Julianne which I think is very nice:)

This is the first time Sam and Robert met. Actually this was my second time to see her also since the day she was born. We met them at the church one sunday and we planned to have lunch after the mass. We met up with them at City Island since everyone was craving for some seafood. Robert really loves Samantha. He keeps asking me if we can take her home..LOL

Lately after school, a couple of my girlfriends from school and I go out for dinner since our class ends at 9:30. It is pretty late and to have a big dinner would be a torture. So we have been hooked with eating sushi..yummm!!!!

My son turned 5

Last April 8th, my son turned 5! OMG, I am getting older:)

He was so happy on his birthday. We bought him a cake and brought it to his school for his classmates and teachers to share. We really did not do anything on his birthday since both of us were working. We booked a party at McDonald's with his friends and classmates last Sunday and the kids seem to enjoy it. It was chaos there!..LOL

I felt bad for the crew in McDonald's and the other customers who had to listen to the kids as they scream out loud.lol

It was a very nice party. He got what he wanted. Bought him a scooter and better batter baseball which he saw on TV. He got some presents from his friends as well. It was wonderful.

Last night was the awards nite for Westchester, Connecticut and Bronx-Westchester Districts for the company. It was very nice and very different than the awards nights in the previous years.It was held at the Marriott Hotel. At 5 in the afternoon, there was a cocktail set up for the employees. At 7 the nite has started. The stage was beautifully set with golden pillars, as last night's theme of the celebration.

I am happy for those I know and worked with that got some awards. I also got nominated as a Consumer Banker of the year based on my sales points last year. I did not win tho. Which is fine. It was my first year being a consumer banker last year and to be nominated and being the TOP 3 Consumer Banker in my district is pretty big accomplishment.

My branch ended up to be the last one on stage since we finished # 1 in the District!! Wooohooo!! Actually, I should not be on that stage since I was not with them last year. i just joined them beginning this year but my manager said, You are with us now, you are part of us!! So I went with them on stage. I was with this branch since I started working for the bank five years ago but I left as I got promoted last year and came back to them this January.

I am so proud of the tellers also! I have handled four branches in Westchester and coached them to be better customer service representatives. Out of five outstanding tellers in the District, three of them were from the branches I handled. So I am Soooo Proud of that.

My boss finished the Best Financial Advisor of the Year!!! Wooohooooo!! I will make sure he gets on that stage next year again and that means, we have to write more and more business!!..LOL

My boss gave me a ride home and we just laughed all the way home. That was because all the big bosses, starting with the regional president, district leaders, sales leaders and Financial Advisors Regional Managers were all dressed up with an Internation Theme. And the best one there was our Regional Sales Manager who was dressed up as he is from the UK. He has this wig and the outfit was just very funny.LOL

First Day Wasn't Bad

Yes, today's class was not bad at all. As previously mentioned, I have International Management today. It was cool. The class wasn't full today probably because it is the first day. Usually most students show up the following week.

I have an Italian Professor today. He is cool and I love his way of teaching! We have two common things between us. We both worked in a global bank and we have italian last names.LOL (Mine by Marriage)lol

First chapter was done..Next week will be a quiz and chapters 2 and 3.

We finished the chapter pretty quick and he dismissed us earlier than scheduled.

I thought of posting a blog while waiting for my bestfriend to pick me up so we can go to church together. Mass is at 12:00 , so I have a little time left. After church we plan on having lunch with some of our friends. Don't know which restaurant we are going yet. I guess that comes later depends on what everyone is craving about.

Definitely today will be a good day to just hang out with friends before we hit a loaded work week. Ahhh today marks the end of my spring break also. Really did not do anything exciting except shopping..(i guess thats exciting huh!)

Tomorrow, spring term starts. So I will be in school after work. I will probably be busy. The professors had posted the syllabus for the subjects I am taking already and it seems like it is loaded. I bought all my books already and started reading on one last night. I cannot believe how different things are here and in the Philippines. In Phils, first day of class will just be merely orientation and introduction. Here, it goes right to the subject matter. Some professors even give quizzes on the first day. Probably because in the Phils, we take our classes for 6 months and here its only 12 weeks per term.

I will let you know how my first class is tomorrow. Tomorrow I will have International Management which runs from six o'clock to nine. It should not be that bad, but we will see.:)

Anyway, that is it for now. I have to put the finishing touches here before we hit the road.

is one of those days. That no matter how great things are going, you are still feeling lonely!!! Do you get this feeling too? I do!! No matter how much work I do and how busy I get, I still feel sad.I do not know why!!!!..LOL

My boss called in sick today. He called me early this morning that he won't be in the office all day as he is not feeling well. I told him to relax and he instructed me some very important things to do and clients to contact. After the instructions were given, he told me to relax today and to take it easy. I told him, as soon as I am done with work, I will..lol. He laughed!

After making few calls to clients and insurance companies, I was just staring at the computer monitor for five minutes. I then said to myself, maybe I should try to organize the files at the back, so I did that. The storage area looks very neat now. No more clutter!!

My sister stopped by my office today and brought me coffee! Thank you sis! After work, I went to Macys and looked around. I really wasn't there to shop..I just really needed a walk and get myself busy. I did not buy anything tho. I have spent few hundred dollars today for my books.Woahh!!!

Anyway, feeling sad as I am...I was listening to some music that i have downloaded on my phone on the way home. It was funny. I dont remember if i have pressed something on the phone or what but the song "Break Me" by Gary Valenciano started playing. I took a cab home and as soon as the song started, I told the driver to stop and dropped me off. It was a block away from my house. So I walked down the block and tears just started to come down my face..Awww:(

The song ended right when I was at my doorstep! Is God trying to say something to me?? I hope so and I am willing to listen!:)

Essay (Where Do You Find Your Serenity?)

I'd like to share this with you. This was the first essay that I have written in school. Professor asked, where can we find our serenity...and here is my essay about it.. Happy reading!!

I got a pretty good grade on this!! I hope you will like it too.

Growing up as a kid, I was never close to my mother. I used to hate it when my mother’s friends said to her, “she is your carbon copy.” It was not until I had to leave our home to pursue my college education that I realized I am incomplete without her. Now, I understand why she was strict. She wanted us to be home at exactly six o’clock. When I think of the sacrifices she made for us, it makes me proud. She has worked all her life for us. She was a supervisor in a store. She would leave the house at seven and went home at eight at night everyday. Her love and dedication has shaped my life into what I am today. Just thinking of her makes me feel very serene.

In five years that I have lived in America, I have only seen my mom twice. I miss her terribly. I have learned to appreciate her more now that I am a thousand miles away. I remember those times while I am still sleeping, she would get up very early and iron my school uniform and laid it on my bed all ready for me. She used to prepare us breakfast, my family’s favorite, fried rice and fish. She used to come to our room in the evening and always reminded us that she loves us dearly. I missed those days now that she is not here by my side.

I am what I am because of my mom. She has given me her heart. She has given me strength and has always reminded me that she will always be there for me, no matter what. She has given me inspiration and she has told me not to be afraid to take big risks in life, like coming to America alone. She constantly reminded me that there is nothing impossible to achieve, as long as I have determination to hit those goals. Whenever I call her, it feels like she is just near me. Whenever I hear her laugh, it makes me feel like I am home.

When I call her in the Philippines, despite the twelve hours difference, she still sounds like she is wide awake. She has a very cheerful voice. She asks me how my son is, my work and my school. Whenever I have problems, she is the first person I call. One day I called her while I was at the bank working, I was crying and was very upset that I did not hit my deposit goals for the month. She did not ask why I did not meet my goals. All she said was “Strive harder. I am very confident you will do better next time.” I was very relieved after I talked to her and was determined to work harder. That call reminded me of a very nice quote about mothers that touched my heart by Washington Irving “A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials heavy and sudden fall upon us, when adversity takes the place of prosperity, when friends who rejoices with us in our sunshine desert us, when troubles thicken around us, still will she cling to us and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the cloud of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts.”

Some people may find their serenity at the beach. Some may find theirs at the spa. I do not have to be anywhere to find mine. I can just simply pick up the phone and dial my mother’s phone number. She is my soul, my serenity.

$500.00 Grant

I was in school today. I registered for Spring Classes. While I was at the Dean of Advisement, he noticed that my GPA was 4.00 (PRETTY AWESOME!!) He was asking me if I was working while I go to school and I said I am. He asked me how I managed my time and still get a great grade. I told him, I am just truly blessed! A new career opportunity opened up for me while I was thinking of going back to school. A less stressful job, yet I get paid better.LOL. So he recommended that I should see Financial Aid and see if they can offer me a scholarship. The Dean said, that because of my grades, I will be receiving a letter and award as I will be in the President's list. He said to keep the letter because it will be a great thing to add to my portfolio that I can use when applying for a job.

So after registering the classes that I wanted, I went to Financial Aid office and the Director welcome my friend and I to his office. He congratulated me for an awesome semester (winter) where I got a 4.0 GPA. He granted me $500.00 more for having that grade. He wished me luck and wished that I will maintain my grade.

It was not until then that it hits to me that I have underestimated myself all this time. I have worked hard for this tho. And I hope I can maintain my grade. Wish me luck folks!!

This is what I got when we were at the Cheesecake Factory. Since I had a meal before I left home, I ordered this Chocolate Moist Cheesecake with coffee. Yummm huh!! But I did not even finish this. I took it home. It is pretty good but this piece is too much for one setting.lol

Go get it when you are in Cheesecake Factory! I can still remember, when I was pregnant, I can eat a strawberry cheesecake everyday.LOL Cheesecake and hard boiled eggs.LOL,ahhhhh Good times!!

Hunting for Eggs

Though it was a pretty cold Easter, it didn't stop Robert and Gia to have fun and hunt for easter eggs. My sister prepared the eggs for them and we took them to the park. They sure had a blast. It was so cute watching the two of them running all over the park and look for those easter eggs.

They look so cute on their outfit. I bought Gia that dress and Robert picked his. He looks so adorable in that color, I must tell ya.(I just really adore him)

My friends and I went out for a ride in Chinatown on Easter. It is where you will find us if we ever get bored.LOL It is because of our favorite restaurant there, HOP KEE!! You have to go there if you ever visit New York.

We love the restaurant because we can get "adobong Kangkong, Suso, Crabs and of course, our favorite, Pan Fried Flounder! Yummy!! That is the only restaurant we go if we are at chinatown. It is because the service is very quick. After you give your order, five minutes later, your food is ready. Thats how quick it is!!!

We have introduced the restaurant to couple of our co-workers and have introduced them to eating Suso!..LOL They loved it. At first, they were like,EWWWW!! Iwould never eat that!!(YEAH RIGHT!!!)

So after Chinatown, we went home and on the way home, I was busy taking pictures while stuck in traffic. My bestfriend was like, "NOW u are acting like a tourist".LOL It is just because, there is no place like New York!!!

Finally, winter sem is over!!!! Woohoo!!! Time to relax. Next week is my spring break, so I am quite excited about that. There is no school for a week. But I will surely miss my classmates and my great professors:)

Looking for Fashion School

My filipina friend has been looking for the best fashion schools new york. Since I am already in school this semester, she has asked me to ask around for the best fashion schools in the area. A professor of mine suggested she should go search on the internet for that. And she did. She found a very good website which features different fashion schools in New York. It showed her choices of schools whether online or in campus.

Thanks to my professor for a good suggestion. Right now, my friend is on the process for registering for Spring Classes in one of the schools featured on the site.

How are you all doing? I hope everyone is fine.

What can I say..whew Monday!! Typical Monday at work. Loaded with paperwork and phone calls and lots and lots of appointments to set. I am exhausted!! But on the sweet side of it, eventhough the market is really going down lately, we have made BUSINESS!!

At school today, it was good. We finished early. I was the first one to hand in my project for the final for my class..Crossing Fingers! Hope I do good at it. I handed it in so I do not have to worry about it. NExt week will be the last week of class, so its gonna be pretty hectic this week.

I did a lot of things during the weekend. I have also took pics so Im going to post it very soon.

Hello everyone! TGIF!!!!

It has been a very long week. But I am glad we have closed on some good deals today! I have accomplished a lot this week, work wise.

My son is sick today. He went to school but was sent home because he wasn't feeling well. There has been this virus going on that is making everyone sick. Gawd!

I still have nightmares about Debbie having a seizure infront of me.I told my manager, I wont go to the lunchroom for a while. I just wasn't prepared of it . Right before my eyes, she fell and hit her head..arghhh What a terrible scene.

I wish all of you to have a great weekend. I am going to finish my essay this weekend as the first draft is due this Wednesday. I will try to get some sleep as well.:)

Well, nothing really happened today. It has been a pretty busy day at work as always. Got bombarded with files..I got to school early today. Today was the submission of our second research paper. I was fine with it since I got my research paper done since last week.

Panic Day

I was in our lunch room at work with my manager and Debbie. We were talking about cruises and where we are going to go on our vacation. Larry, my manager left and it was just Debbie and I left. And few minutes after, Rochel came in and joined us. Debbie said the three of us should go on a cruise, on a long weekend. And while we were getting excited talking on places we want to go, I saw Debbie fell flat on the floor. She had a seizure. OMG!! Rochel and I were panicking. We did not know what to do. I asked Rochel to call for help. She handed me the phone, she could not talk either. So I started pressing all the extensions at work but no one picks up. I was so scared!!!! I did not know what to do. Things happened so fast, after a minute, I saw Debbie got up and smiled. We told her that was not funny at all. She said, it happens and she really does not know what happens when it happens , u know what i mean?

She said the hell out of me!!! I told her to stay away from me..LOL Till i get over my nervousness.

Spanish Seafood Paella

This is the restuarant where we went out to eat today. This is located in the Bronx, New York. We always go there because of their Spanish Seafood Paella!! YUM!!!!

First they will start you with YUMMY rolls and bread sticks. They have the best rolls ever!!! It is hot when it is served to you. My son especially loves the bread sticks.

The salad with french dressing is my favorite!!

And here is it!! We ordered our favorite, spanish seafood paella. It has scallops, clams, mussels, chicken, shrimp and spanish sausage. YUMMY!!!! This is good for two people but we could not even finish it.LOL it is so much food, we had to take home the rest.

Happy Sunday to all of you guys!! What did you do today?

I got up early today. Took a shower and went out for brunch with my family. It is beautiful today in New York. It is 44 degrees. Not so cold. The sun is actually out today, for a change.lol. This is a pic taken in my neighborhood. It is early when we went out so there was not much traffic outside.

After brunch, I did my laundry and when I got done, I went to Cross County Mall and bought some stuff from Victoria Secrets. Whew!!

I am home now and just watching tv.

If some of you have not seen the "Maalaala Mo Kaya" starred by Diether and Bea Alonzo, you have missed a very nice story. Well, Bea here is a nurse and Diet has cancer. They met in the hospital when Diether was rushed by his brother because his stomach was hurting so much. Their first meeting was not good, as Bea needs to follow the SOP before admitting the patient to the hospital while Diet was in pain answering all her questions.

The next day, Diet called her "Matsura" which is PANGIT in kapampangan.lol. She was so mad when she learned what matsura meant. Diet stayed in the hospital for a few day for some tests while Bea was the assigned nurse at that ward. They joked around with each other till the tests results were told to Diet and his family. His doctor who is also Bea's brother told him and his family that he will no longer be around any longer. They cried in tears, and Bea did too while listening to his brother saying the horrible news.

Diet asked Bea that he wants her to be his gf and Bea told him, she would get his answer when she gets back from a three days off. When she got back to work, she noticed that Diet was not in his bed. So she was teary eyed as she felt lonely. She did not know that Diet was hiding in the corner to see how she would react. He surprised her and asked her, if she has something to say to him. She told him there is none and just to take care. Diet took a few steps and asked her again,"do u really have nothing to tell me, or I will go now?" She then said, she has accepted his love. Their relationship went on, till they decided to get married in court. Bea does not want her marriage to him be known to her family, as she does not know how they would react. She has ambitions for herself, to go abroad but she did not pursue it because of Diet. At first, she admitted that she has accepted his love because she felt bad for him if she will not say yes. She pity on him and she wants him to feel loved even on his last days. Their relationship grow more and more as days goes on. Her family knew about her marriage and they were disappointed with her actions. But she stood by him. Cared for him and loved him just as much as he cares and loves her. They fought together against cancer,but one day, the cancer has affected most of his body cells. He was at the hospital and she was there for him. Everyday!!! She was by his side when he told her, that if he dies, he wants her to pursue life. To go abroad and pursue her dreams. To have family and kids. To love again. She did not say anything but cried and cried. One day as he was sleeping, she was praying and said "God, if this is what you want, take him. I do not want to see him suffer". He woke up and she said, "I have accepted it", and hugged him. He asked,"how are you going to be?" , "I do not know", she replied.

They hugged each other and he died on her arms.

What a beautiful love story. Nakakaiyak!!!!

I got up late today about 8:30. I know , I know, most of you might say,"WHAT?? That is too early?!!", but for me it is late coz I normally get up at 6:00 even on weekends. My body is used to it since I have to get up early for work.

When I got up, I watched tv for a while. My phone rang and Kim (my classmate) called. When I answered, she was like, are you still home?? I said yes!! She said, well, I am on the way to school, did u forget we are suppose to meet there at 10?!LOL I told her, I will be a little late.

I took a shower and dressed up to go to school. Kim and I were planning to go to school today to work on our essay and financial analysis on our accounting class project. So I got to school late. We went to the library and started working on the ratios.

We got everything fine and both of us were so hungry. So we went to the nearby mall which is Galleria, and we got some coffee. We walked around and we bought couple of things there.

Well that is it for now..How is your weekend going guys?

Are you missing someone in your life right now? I do!! I miss my parents, my family, my friends and my home, the PHILIPPINES!!! Sometimes, there are moments in my life, that no matter how busy I am here in the US, I am still missing the life in PI. Sometimes, our lives here in the US are so fast paced that it wears us out. Sometimes I think of the beaches in PI and just wish I am there. Enjoying the heat of the sun, the warm water, and the food, dont forget!!

Not too long now, and I will be there soon. I might go this summer right after my spring classes. This year is pretty quick. I cannot believe it is already March!!!!......sooon, not knowing....JUNE WILL COME sooner than expected..LOL..I hope so, I cannot wait...

Mine wasn't bad either. I finally finished fixing the files on one file cabinet. I have 4 more to go, God bless me!..LOL..It is so hard if you want to make money. You gotta dig on files to get prospects.LOL But it is all worth it. I am enjoying my job.

Today was actually, my last day to enjoy since my boss is coming back on Monday from a business trip in Cancun. I told him, next time, he has to bring me.LOL and for him to bring me wherever it is going to be, he has to stay #1 in the District. And in order for him to be #1, I gotta make a lot of phone calls to the clients. ( I cant get a free trip that easy) I actually has to work for it.LOL

I was cleaning my files on my PC when I clicked on my pictures. This is one of my favorite. Thiswas taken during our company's christmas party. This is a pic of my bestfriend and I. She ordered me the drink. I do not really drink but since I wasn't working the next day, I was like "what the heck,lets give it a shot." So Rochel bought me drink. I believe it was cosmo.

I do not know how my weekend is going to be. I am sure I will be working on my ratio analysis for my accounting class and my resume for my Business Communication. It is going to be very very very busy. I might just stay home because the weather is going to be bad tomorrow.

I think the snow is here. My TFC is not working again..LOL..Usually it is like that when there is a snow storm..woahhh...

Tiring Day

I am so tired!! When I got off work today, we went to our accountant to get our taxes done. Our appointment was at 6 pm but we when we arrived there, there were plenty of people that their appointments were ahead of us, so we had to wait.

I fell asleep while waiting for our turn. When it was our turn, I was happy that we are going to get something back. Wohoo!! Shopping , shopping, shopping time!! LOL.

After a dreadful day, I went home and started working on my research paper. I am almost done!! Thank goodness!!!

Tomorrow is another day. Hopefully, I will get some good night sleep tonight.

To all of you who are not working tomorrow, just like me (smiles), take time to spend your weekend with your loved ones. Enjoy it and make the most of it.

Carrot Pistachio Cake and Cupcakes

Cake is always an impressive, celebratory dessert. A supply of fresh-frozen layers lets you have your cake whenever you please. It is possible to freeze cake frosted, if you do so with icing that can withstand the chill. Buttercream will freeze without making the cake soggy, but if you prefer egg-white-based or cream-cheese icings, freeze layers separately, make the icing fresh, and frost the layers after they thaw.

INGREDIENTS
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup dark brown sugar
1 tablespoon baking soda
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon fresh-grated nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon allspice
3 cups grated carrots
1 1/2 cups chopped dried apricots
1 1/2 cups chopped pistachios
4 large eggs
1 1/2 cups olive oil
1/2 cup milk
2 tablespoons pure vanilla extract

DIRECTIONS
1. Make the batter: Heat oven to 350°F. Butter two 8-inch round cake pans and line an 8-cup muffin pan and set aside. Combine the flour, sugars, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice in a large bowl. Toss the carrots, apricots, and nuts in the flour mixture and set aside. Whisk together the eggs, olive oil, milk, and vanilla in a medium bowl and add to the flour mixture. Stir until just combined. Transfer 3 cups of batter to each cake pan and 1/4 cup batter to each cupcake liner. Bake the cakes until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean — about 40 minutes for cakes and 20 minutes for cupcakes. Cool cakes in the pans on a wire rack for 20 minutes. Release cakes from pans and cool completely on the rack. If freezing, skip to Step 2. Frost with your favorite icing.
2.To freeze: Double-wrap the cake layers in plastic wrap or place each one in a large resealable plastic bag, removing excess air. Place cupcakes in a plastic container with an airtight lid and freeze for up to 2 months.

Extremely Cold

Today is extremely cold in New York. The wind made it worse. I had a class today till 10:10 at night. When we finished the discussions on three chapters, I was just so tired and I am sure all my classmates were too.It is so hard to try to look cute when you have to bundle up.LOL

Tomorrow, we are suppose to get snow. I will definitely take pictures. I will also start working on my introduction for my essay and my research paper on Google China. Gawd!! These following weeks to come, I am going to be so tired!!

Few more weeks and this term will be over. After the winter break, which is one week, classes for spring will start again. I have enrolled for Spring already but I might change my classes. I do not want to get four classes in a row like this winter. It drives me nuts! By the time I get off from work,I am already exhausted. Then I have to rush to school for another three hours of intense discussion... I am just overwhelmed, but I am proud to say, I have been very good at it. My grades speak for itself:)

Insurance License...

Today I was thinking of getting my insurance license at work. I have this goal when I was still a Consumer Banker in the bank. I was thinking of getting my licenses so I can write policies, and offer insurance products to the clients and getting paid for it instead of just referring clients to the other bankers with licenses.

I have emailed my Senior Manager today and asked him what to do to get it. As soon as he gives me approval, I will enroll in insurance class, of course paid by the company.LOL

Great News Today

I was very excited yet nervous today. It was because today, our grades for my Management class was posted. This was the grade from our presentation last week. Woahhh!! My taking a day off on that day was worth it! I got 94% on that!!!!! I thought I did bad, but hmmm confidence, confidence..LOL

Anyway, I thought I'd share that with you as promised from my previous blog entry. It is great and I hope I will do better than that next presentation (for finals).

Hmmmm....I gotta start on writing for my 2nd research paper. I should not waste my time since I have two term papers to do for this quarter. One for my writing class and one for my management class. I dont want to get burned by March on it.

Snow in New York

As we were driving to work today, I took this picture. It snowed in New York today.

This is beautiful! I really admire the first day of snow here. Everything is just so nice and lovely to look at. I especially love the trees and its branches with snow.

Today is a day to catch up on things at work. I had a lot of paperworks done. Thank goodness to the snow!! Not a lot of customers came outside and bothered me..LOL

While we enjoy this snow, it is terrible outside especially for people who lives far from work. I feel bad for them driving in this kind of weather. There are too many accidents.

Graduate in Fall '09

Yesterday, as I was in the process of enrolling for Spring Classes, I asked the Advisement if when is my expected graduation. If I will be taking 16 credits every quarter, I will be graduating in Fall of 09. That is NEXT YEAR, Yup, you heard me, NEXT YEAR!!!!

I am excited. I cannot wait. Hopefully, I will be able to get my degree then.

Lately, I have been feeling stressed. In my management class (which is my major), we are asked to do a presentation on two topics- company's fraud and ethical issues or you discuss the pros and cons of the BCG and GE matrices. I choose to explain the 2 matrices. I have been preparing for it since it was given to us by our professor. I made my research and made my presentation on powerpoint a week ago.

Well, I have done a presentation at work, infront of our Regional President but I was so stressed out about this class presentation. I was so nervous coming to class on thursday. The presentation was done in random, and I was the second to the last that was called to present it. First, I stood up, very nervous. I prepared my presentation on the pc and started introducing myself to the class and told the class a brief introduction of my presentation. Before I introduced myself, I made a sign of a cross and everyone laughed and they all told me, YOU ARE GOING TO BE FINE!!..LOL and I laughed along with them.

So then the presentation went on......and after all the presentations, my professor admired my confidence and eye contact. He said, I looked nervous when I stood up but it didn't show once I got infront of the class. I thought it was a very nice compliment.

The grades will be posted by Monday. I cannot wait to see how I did with my presentation. I will let ya know.:)

WoW. It has been a while since I have not written anything here on my blog. It has been so busy, work, school and family. Work has been very exciting lately. Since I just started a new position a month ago, I have been learning many new things. School on the other hand is fine. I am happy with my grades and I did well on my midterm exams.

Anyway, what is new with you guys? Anything exciting? For me, aside from work and school, there is nothing exciting at all..LOL. Life goes on no matter where and what it brings you, right?!!

Summer Getaway

Yesterday after work, I went out for my friends from work-Stephanie,Marlo, Jackie Jones and I. We out for dinner at our favorite restuarant in City Island-Crab Shanty. We were so lucky that when we arrived there, we easily got a table even without reservations. Usually the place is packed especially on Friday nights.

We got our table and we ordered some drinks. Stephanie had White Zin, Marlo had Sex on the Beach, Jackie J had Mojito and I had amoretto sour. It has been a while since we last went out. We ordered the same food..LOL..Chicken Franchese with Linguini on top. This restaurant has the best chicken franchese.. The last time we went out and had dinner at this resto, we also ordered this.

Over dinner we talked about having a vacation together this summer even for just a week. Since all of us are working at different branches now, it is easy for us to get the same vacation. We were thinking of going on a cruise to Puerto Rico. mmmmmm We deserve this!!!

After dinner, we went shopping, of course! We went to the Galleria in White Plains. Went to our favorite store , Victoria Secrets.The four of us bought an Angel bag and Angel Key chains.So the four of us has the same bag and key chain..LOL We were thinking that beginning next month, we will spend a night at each other's house and just talk and drink and enjoy the company of each other. During that night, we should be using our angel bags.LOL.

I enjoyed the night out with my friends. And looking forward to our Summer Getaway in June. Cannot wait!

Update: As I am typing this, Marlo just sent me a message that she found some good deals about the cruise.I guess it is happening!..LOL

Very Busy Week

Hello Guys!

It has been a busy week for me. I started school as soon of you know already. When I get off work, I rush to go to school. Everyday, my class doesn't start till 6:00 p.m. and ends at 9:30 except on my Management Class which starts at 6:40 till 10:10 on thursday. It has been exhausting yet very rewarding.

I have very good professors this semester and met new good friends. It's good to be back in school.

Oh well, I am so tired. I will fill you in next time.:) Have a great weekend guys.

A Good News To Share

I accepted a New position in the company, but in a different Entity. I will still be employed under HSBC, but not in a bank anymore, it would be under HSBC Securities. I just accepted the offer on Monday. Just thought of sharing this with you. I have started saying goodbye to my customers in Scarsdale since I will be leaving the branch and going to the branch where I started, East Yonkers. I was thanking everyone that I have worked with, including my Manager and the Staff, the Tellers from the 4 branches I coached, and especially to the customers for giving me an opportunity to service them. It is sad to leave one branch behind but I am so happy to be back to the branch I love and get to work with the Best Financial Advisor Ever and of course to be working with the best people in the world.

Trouble Times Two?!?!

I call them double trouble. Sometimes when my sister has somewhere to go, I get a chance to babysit Gia. She is a year older than Robert. Very sweet kid. But boy oh boy, when I have the two of them, I cannot even picture out the mess they make in my living room..LOL

This was a pic taken when I had to watch both of them one sunday. I took them with my to the laundrymat. After putting the laundry in the washing machine, I took them to the coffee shop next door. They picked the cookie they liked and the drinks.

After doing the laundry, I took them to the movies to watch "The Water Horse". They got a kiddie meal at the movie theater. They both enjoyed the movies. They both behaved.

We had a great time.

My Pride and Joy

My pride and joy is my one and only son, Robert William. He is 4 years old and is in Pre K 4 right now. He makes me happy. Everytime I come home, he welcomes me with open arms and meet me with hugs and kisses.

Robert is so silly too, just like his mother, I must say. Sometimes he turns my world upside down.LOL

He loves Thomas the Tank Engine and Spongebob Squarepants of course. We might have 100 train toy sets already.LOL

Bonding with Sis

A week ago, my sister and I thought of taking advantage of our same day off on saturday to go to the spa. We received gift certificates for a one hour massage in one spa here in New York. So I booked our appointment for yesterday. Our appointment was at 11 am but we were late because my sister did not pick me up early. So we arrived at Tranquility Spa at 11:05. We were supposed to be there at least 30 minutes before the scheduled appointment.

But anyway, when we got there, they took take of us immediately.They gave us our robes, slippers and the key to the our lockers. It was my second time in that spa and I loved the place. It is so solemn. You can really relax and not worry about anything else.

Our therapists came and took us to the room.My sister had a pregnancy massage since she is 2 months pregnant and I had a swedish massage. It was an hour of pure pampering. Love it!

My sister and I had a great time. This wont be our last.

What if.....

Is there a moment in your life today, that you just sit there and think, the “what could have been and what if’s in your life?” I often do. If my day is going slow, I often daydream about that “what could have been” if I didn’t come to US? What could have happened to me if I did not marry at a young age? What could have happened to me if I stayed in the Philippines?

Sometimes, these questions linger on my mind and I kept asking myself, WHAT IF? If I think about those things, I smiled and said to myself; whatever I have today is what I have chosen to be. Whether I may like the outcome of the decisions I made years ago, it is what it is. I cannot undo the things that happened in the past. I can only learn from my mistakes and I can only do better.

Like you, I have made poor decisions in my life. Whether it was personal, career wise or emotional---I have made mistakes. If you would blame yourself for the poor choices you have made, you are only hurting yourself and you are stopping yourself from moving on. It’s okay to cry if you are hurt. It’s okay to be lonely if you are disappointed. But do not let it settle in you.

You must step up and say to yourself, I AM STRONG, I CAN DO THIS! Move on!!! It’s never too late to do something for the better. There is always time for everything. Do something to get yourself out of where you are now. And do not forget to always ask guidance from God.

My Bestfriend

I am so proud to have found my bestfriend. Her name is Rochel. She is also a Pinay, maybe thats why we clicked so well together. Well, let me tell ya, the first time I met this girl was when she was assigned to help out our branch since we were short of staff. She came in and I was so glad to meet her especially when I found out she was a Filipina. She only worked in our branch for a couple of days which really was not enough time to get to know her. 3 years later, her branch manager took over our branch to manage as well, so we were kinda just one branch together though we are two different offices. Later that year, my manager transferred me to the main branch. Rochel happened to be working there too. At first, she was like, WHO IS THIS BITCH?!?! She did not welcome me with open arms..believe in me!.lol.

Our stations were next to each other. We talked and talked in tagalog that our co-workers are telling us that they are tired of hearing us talk.lol..sometimes they are happy to see if one of us has a day off...(means silence to the branch). Sometimes they tell us they are going to give us a fine for every tagalog word we say.lol

It sure was all FUN!!! I love this girl. She made me realize, there is life outside work and home. She made me feel like,I am not alone. I can tell this girl, basically everything about my life, how I feel, and everything else even if it does not matter at all, or wont make sense at all. We laugh, we talk about people and we laugh again, we laugh and laugh and laugh more.LOL

Now we are working at different branches but we still talk on the phone , see each other or email each other everyday.

LOVE THIS GIRL!!
